Student/Parent Access to PowerSchool

A couple of weeks ago we sent out student and parent agreement forms for online access to PowerSchool. Last week we mailed out username and login information to all families who returned their signed agreements.  This technology allows students and parents to view their grades and attendance from any computer with web access.

The purpose of this program is to facilitate communication and support students in taking responsibility for their education.  Just like yourhomework.com is not a substitute for writing down daily homework, online access to PowerSchool is not meant to replace students taking the initiative to talk to their teachers about their progress and students tracking their own progress.  Instead, these are additional supports that can provide valuable information outside of the school setting.  As with all of our supports, our goal is to focus on learning rather than focusing simply on grades.

If you missed getting your form in, it’s not too late.  You can sign up for online access at any time during the year. Agreement forms can be obtained from the Hall office or you could print and sign the agreement information on the district website.

Progress Reports

At the midpoint of each quarter we mail out progress reports for any students receiving a C- or below in any class.  These report cards were mailed out last Friday.  If you have any questions about your child’s grade, please contact the teacher directly.  Also, please sign and return the progress report so we know that you received it.

School News

New Website

I am pleased to announce the launching of the "Counselor's Corner" website.  There are extensive resources for parents and caregivers, students, and those interested in learning more about our Character Counts! program.  You can find out about parent education, read articles relevant to your family issues, and keep up with what is happening in the developmental and social/emotional lives of your student.  Students have the ability to read articles relating to bullying, self-esteem, academic success, and much more!  Please contact me with any comments or questions.

Student Safety

In this week's backpack mail you will find a letter detailing recent events in the community with regards to student safety along with safety tips.  You can also download this information from the new parent page at the "Counselor's Corner" website.  The link can be found on the school website homepage.

Private High Schools

In order to save paper, we have posted the compiled private high school information on the parent portion of the "Counselor's Corner" website.  The link can be found on the school website homepage.  It will not be distributed in back pack mail as previously noted.
